 Although not required, regular maintenance on your LaserJet printer helps you eliminate repeat service calls and maximize the paper feed and print quality performance of your LaserJet printer.

In addition, maintenance kits are priced substantially lower than if you were to purchase these same LaserJet printer parts individually.

The LaserJet printer parts included in these maintenance kits have varying estimated service lives depending on the maintenance kit printer model.

These estimates may vary, however, depending upon such things as LaserJet printer user maintenance, LaserJet printer application, operating environment, and the LaserJet printer media used. Any LaserJet printer servicing should include inspection of the maintenance kit.

What is a Maintenance kit

Some people refer to these as "fuser kits".

What are they? Basically an HP Maintenance kits contains that frequently wear out in printers.

HP LJ 4250/4350 Maintenance kit

• fusing assembly
• Transfer Roller
• Pickup, feed and separation rollers or pads

The fusing assembly is the component that bonds toner to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.

The laser printer fuser assembly is the heating roller unit that melts and fuses the toner onto the paper.

The fuser assembly is made up of a heating roller and a pressure roller. The heating roller applies the heat to the toner on the printed page and the pressure roller presses and fuses the toner into the printed page

The transfer roller transfers toner from drum cartridge to the paper.

The Rubber rollers, Pick-up, feed and separates the paper into the Printer.

There is an internal counter in the printer that after so many pages printed will prompt the machine to display the perform “PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE”

If your printer display reads “PERFORM PRINTER MAINTENANCE” then your printer has reached its maintenance interval and a maintenance kit should be installed.

"I was wondering if this is a message that we can simply clear or is there maintenance that needs to be performed so as not to damage the printer?"

HP recommends it be done so as to prevent future issues which may arise as items in the kit wear down.

This simply means that the maintenance kit parts have reached the end of their life and need to be replaced. Doing so will ensure your hp laserjet continues to run as has intended.

Xerox Maintenance Kits

Xerox laser Printers also have maintenance kits as seen Above. But color wax model maintenance kit is something different.

Xerox Phaser 8860 Maintenance kit

Routine maintenance items are typically customer replaceable... printer parts that have a limited life and require periodic replacement.

For example the maintenance kit is the only routine maintenance item for the Phaser 8560/8860 printer.

The Maintenance Kit on some printers is a consumable that consists of the maintenance roller and counter.
